Bronze Progress In August

In August we were pleased to confirm that a senior and junior member both made progress to their Bronze Awards.

On Sunday, 27th August, Ollie Gallant took a major step in successfully completing his Bronze Check Flight. Ollie stated flying in 2003, but with COVID and other commitments it is only recently he started putting some time into progressing his skills.

Then on Sunday 3rd September he took our Astir up and qualified for doing an hour’s soaring solo.

Meanwhile one of our Junior’s, Hugo Oxby, on Wednesday 30th August, passed his Bronze Field Check Landing. This involves landing in a very narrow field, which can happen if the weather turns against the pilot. Hugo had to simulate landing is a short field by landing on a diagonal, using our airfield, as you will see below.

We have a Bronze WhatsApp Group for those members who are solo and are working towards their Bronze Award. It provides information and discussion for those studying for the exam.
